It excited me so much to see that most of this extract is written in second person! It is so uncommon that it's become my favourite, and it gives the reader that feeling of being one to one with the narrator and being told their own story. When it changed with the character shift I was a little disappointed, but it probably would have ruined it to have Eve be you as well as Oliver, and this way it's not overdoing it and the result is a story that is very well written and easy to read, follow and immerse yourself in.
The story itself is also very interesting, the time shifts help to get an idea of what's happened in the time leading up to present day, and the suggestion that the rest of the story is going to be pieced together from Oliver's mind is fascinating.
