I did struggle with this book. It's a complex tale with a complicated characters that are intertwined in many ways. The subject matter is at times emotional, a school shooting and the aftermath up to ten years and more afterwards. The story was told from Oliver and his family's point of view. I struggled with the story arc of what happened in the hospital to Oliver. There are potential trigger moments for readers.

I found the pacing of the read to be very up and down and I had times of really needing to push through to keep reading. My opinion is this is because of overly descriptive and verbose language. I just couldn't gel with the writing style and if affected my enjoyment. However, I did enjoy the moments of poetry.
