It's difficult to write a review about a book when others have done the same, especially when your views are conflicting.
It's taken me well over a month to read this book, it started out amazingly, beautifully in fact. But then it became a confusing shambles, a bit higgeldy piggeldy for me. I refused to give up on it, as I wanted to know the end result. But I felt there was so much unnecessary stuff in the book. Whether it's because I'm not intelligent enough to understand everything, I don't know. Some of the wording was just outrageous. It genuinely felt like some chapters had been written using a thesaurus to make it seem more interesting and intellectual.
I think the plot of this book was very good, but it was ruined by all the mambo Jambo in-between it.
I feel awful giving it a 2 star review, but to me it wasn't worthy of anything more. I feel it would have made a beautiful story had it just been toned down ever so slightly. We don't need big words and thousands of similes in a chapter to make a good read. And that's what let it down.
