Adventure stories are not my usual choice of reading although I was aware of the author - I think I may have borrowed one of his books from my school library many years ago. This extract shows he is a master story-teller with some fascinating memories to draw on, making for an exciting and vividly drawn autobiography, as reflected in the evocative cover.
