I didn't enjoy this first look I'm afraid. I'm not a big fan of Wilbur Smith's writing style generally but have enjoyed reading some of his thrillers but reading his memoir left me cold. After having read about the questionable actions of many white people in Rhodesia a book detailing an idyllic childhood out there probably wouldn't be one for my reading list.
