As a new discovery for me, I found On Leopard Rock by Wilbur Smith a refreshing and intriguing account into the author's life. From the very first page I felt connected to his story, and privileged to be taken on a journey of Wilbur's growth and development which helped to put his work into perspective.
I found Wilbur's writing style easy to digest and enjoyed the flow of stories from chapter to chapter. I particularly enjoyed learning about his life in South Africa, where some of his tales of childhood sounded almost as though they could be fictional themselves!
Overall I would highly recommend this novel for anyone who has enjoyed Wilbur Smith's books before and would like to understand what has inspired and motivated him during his writing career.
