I'd never read any Wilbur Smith before but my grandad is a huge fan, so I wanted to read this to see what all the fuss was about! I found it a great read - insightful, honest and funny at times with throughout an overarching theme of adventure and a life well lived. You can really sense the passion Smith has for his writing, and it's simply incredible that this is all a true story!
I definitely feel inspired to go on and read more from Smith following this autobiography... oh, and my grandad really enjoyed it too! I was pleasantly surprised that I got engrossed in this despite not being familiar with Smith's works, so I would say that if you are already a fan then this is really worth a read.
