Wilbur Smith is one of those authors who I have not read - but really wanted to. This was an interesting memoir of times in the wild, following Mr Smith on his adventures in Africa. The writing was genuine, funny in places - and I must say, exciting.
I very much enjoyed the variety of stories in this book. As a real life novel, it was so interesting to imagine the scenarios unfolding in real time. You really got to know the author - as if you were on the trips with him. No information felt like it was being withheld. The writing was descriptive and easy to follow - with vibrant and vivid descriptions of people and places. The book described the people that Wilbur Smith met along the way, and it was good to hear their stories as well.
