Good start
What a sombre, heartbreaking but gripping start to a novel.
We are introduced to Maw Maw, a local midwife who is training her granddaughter Grace to follow in her footsteps. It all seems to be going to plan when the Broderson baby, is mixed race and Maw Maw writes on the birth certificate the baby is Caucasian in order to protect the baby and the mother. Then it all goes wrong.
The introduction is well written and even with such a small excerpt I am invested in finding out what happens to the family.
