I really liked the start of this book - it's set in an era I know little about but even beyond my curiosity from a historical fiction standpoint, I like the way the characters are being fleshed out already. The writing style is just right, too, this is a book that's right up my alley in terms of creating a setting/atmosphere and developing characters early on and getting the reader invested in their futures, creating a certain level of suspense. I look forward to reading the whole novel soon.
I didn't really understand the nature of the cover, I would've picked numerous other designs over this Mod Art-esque one, particularly given the era that this novel is depicting. It would put me off picking up the book as I would assume a much more abstract novel than it actually is if I were to judge by its cover. It just seems completely disconnected from the actual plot and subject matter.
