I really wasnt sure what to expect from this book before i started reading it but once i had i became instantly hooked. i read this so fast, literally racing through the pages just to consume the story as fast as possible.
Grace is in her early teens being raised by her lovely granny in Virginia, when suddenly her life is upended and she finds herself living with her stuffy Aunt miles away. Grace falls pregnant but it's hushed up and she's hidden away. She gives birth to a baby girl but it's soon ripped away from her and given up for adoption. As time continues we meet Delores, also known as Lolo and her daughter Rae, many more events unfold and we see how time has changed opinions and reactions. We travel through the 60's filled with unrest and segregation right up until the early 2000's. i found it such a beautiful read and adored the characters
