I was so excited to read this story which sounded right up my street from the description and i am a little torn. On one hand i found it a hard read just which the style of writing that was used the southern dialect was hard to read and i had to go over some of it a few times which disrupted the flow of the story and also made it hard to get into the story at first. I would find myself putting the book down and not picking it back up for a few days however I eventually got into the flow of the story.
The story line i really enjoyed, it shows how life was for the black community years ago where they where not treated as equals in society. It was quite eye opening to read, also how unmarried mothers where treated and having there babies taking away from them.
I am glad i stuck with the book as overall it was a lovely story was just not a fan of the writing style and dont think i would pick another book like this up.
