It's not very often that a book makes me cry! In fact, I can't remember the last time one did but this one...I bawled my eyes out. In sadness, in understanding, in sympathy and in true connection to the female characters in the story!

I felt like this was like a diary in the form of a strange family tree. It was a little but confusing to remember how each woman was connected and how but the timeline of personality, strength, heartache and pain was fantastic.

I couldn't begin to understand what Grace may have been going through at the start. Her situation couldn't have been more different from my own...her energy and determination to just survive when it seemed like the world was against her and her situation was just so inescapable.

Lolo I really felt for- her horrific start in life that had a nasty long lived effect on her future relationships...I cried when she felt she couldnt go on, when she found out the horrible things her husband had done and how she was forced into a family life she had little choice over, only to find out all was not what it seemed.

Rae was the one who really hit a nerve. Her fight, her resilience, her incredible grief upon discovering her heritage and her loss of someone so close...putting up and shutting up to do what was right for her child. The double standards from her husband who expected the world whilst he did nothing!

The stories combined have really left me thinking about the girls and I think I will continue to for a long time! Inspiring! Amazing to hear also how parts of the story were infact autobiographical of the author! Incredible!
