The cover immediately sets the story in the elegance of London society in the '30s. We soon find out we will be looking in from the perspective of hotel employees. I didn't think this novel would suit me as I'm not usually a fan of romance but I can see that Anton du Beke has the gift of spinning a tale which draws the reader in.
