Anton Du Beke is well known as a professional dancer on TV and I am pleased to say that he is a brilliant author as well. One Enchanted Evening follows the lives and loves of the various staff and guests at the Buckingham Hotel in the run up to the Second World War all of whom have their fair share of secrets. The novel is beautifully written and very evocative of the time period and the characters are so interesting especially principal dancer Raymond de Guise and new chambermaid Nancy. Of course dancing plays a huge role in the book and is of huge importance to the characters as a way of escaping their lives especially as the shadow of the war hangs over them. This is a lovely book to escape into and I would highly recommend.
