I 100% knew the time period which this book took place, which is what put me off reading it for such a long time. I've never been a fan of historical fiction, and I really don't think that I'll be loving it any time soon, which upsets me because there are so many that sound like they would be good.
I will admit that the only reason why I wanted to pick this book up is because I think Anton is amazing and I wanted to support his work as a debut author. As much as I wanted to enjoy it, I found it wasn't the right book for me. This seems to be, unfortunately, be becoming a theme for me with my past few reads, I hope it picks up soon, I miss being immersed in a book.
I hate to say this, but I never made it to the end, but I hope that one day, no matter how far in the future, I will be able to read this book and appreciate it for what it truly is. I've seen so many people loving it, and I want to, so much.
