One split second offers a plot about tragedy. The first 3 chapters provide a chronological running commentary to grab your attention. There’s a car crash - it appears to be a singular vehicle incident but hitting a brick wall, the occupants’ lives are all known to be changed forever; emotionally and physically.

One split second makes you aware that actions have consequence. A stone hitting the water’s surface causes a ripple effect. This car hitting a wall has ramifications- far reaching ripples. Each young person in that car has more than probably made decisions placing them in the ill fated car, decisions that they may not have made if they were older or wiser and it is now too late; no clock can turn back time and reverse the consequences.

The book will prove useful discussion for young adults.

I’m intrigued to read - is this a coming of age type novel for all the connected persons within that car and their friends?

If root causes are considered might even the parents of the girl who arranged the party have regrets? Had they made arrangements to prevent a party whilst they holidayed overseas would the accident have never happened?

There will undoubtedly be layers of guilt to unpick within the novel. This is about more than just the criminal guilt and responsibility of the young person driving the car that hit the brick wall.

I look forward to reading and providing a review.
