I enjoyed these first few chapters, being fast-paced and so easily inhalable. I found myself reading quicker than I have done in a while, desperate to find out what happened next, empathising with the characters and really feeling as though I was there, experiencing the pain first hand.
The cover and its simplicity initially drew me in, and on reflection it's easy to see the connection between the rotting flowers and the all-too-quick deterioration of the lives of the people involved. Haunting.
