One Split Second is the first book Caroline Bond I have read and I was really intrigued! The writing style is very enjoyable: I like being able to read from more than one viewpoint of a character. With the number of families afflicted by the crash, it made it feel more genuine and more engaging to hear internal voices from all of them. The scenes set in the hospital were very well written, which in fiction is not always a given, and I found them very moving and sensitively transmitted.
Despite the amazing depiction of the characters, it may be slightly overwhelming by the number of them- initially. However, once I established who was who, I could not put it down!
On a sad note, however, it is genuinely a parent's worst nightmare:
A teenage party, alcohol, and a phone call regarding a nefarious car-crash.
Then, the waiting and waiting for any sort of news to break the tension.
