I enjoyed reading the sample as I was interested in knowing what is actually going on, for example in the prologue it sounds as though the protagonist is in danger but then there is mention of other characters which heightens the excitement and curiosity. I like the author's writing style as it is easy to understand and therefore the book is a more lightweight read. Moving on to the beginning of the narrative, I enjoy the metaphors used, such as the 'avocado stone' and the 'folds that athletes get when their body fat drops', which adds humour to the relatively tense start. My favourite part, however, is the italicised phrases, which allows the reader to get an insight into what the character is thinking.
