I'm a big Sanjida Kay fan and her newest book, One Year Later, sounds really good. It begins with a dramatic prologue and straightaway this sounds like a book I'd love to read! It's well written and engaging and seems a rather harrowing story, with relatable characters. I wonder who the dead woman is and what happened to poor little Ruby-May.

From the description of the book, there is obviously more to the story, with a holiday in Italy mentioned and someone hiding a shocking secret, and I'm keen to find out more about Amy and Matt and their remaining children, Theo (8) and Lotte (6). It sounds like Amy is still struggling and I'm struck by the last line of the extract: 'The books all say that time heals. But nothing can cauterize her pain.'
