This book was surprisingly brilliant in so many ways. Firstly, the characters are well constructed and each have their own ‘difficulties’. It’s clear that nearly all of them are hiding something to be honest. We tend to hear more from Nick’s narration which was interesting too. It centres around the tragic death of a little girl and basically all is not what it seems. It’s clear there’s lots of hidden memories and stories within this narrative.
I enjoyed the Italian setting too - but I appreciated more the fact that, just like in life, you can’t run away from your problems. Eventually, this family needed to face them head on and that is exactly what this book is about. A great summer read; not a difficult read at all.
