I really enjoyed this book. You are already aware of a child's death in the family so it has sad undertones all the way through it... understandably so.

It's a story of a family tragedy and the aftermath of trying to recover and reunite. All the characters are understandably broken in their own way. The focus is on two main characters; the mother who is just trying to get though each day without falling apart which you can entirely feel throughout the book and her brother who is trying to understand the circumstances of his nieces death.

It is set on a remote island in Tuscany which allows for the author to include some beautiful scenic moments amongst the darkness of the disjointed family gathering.

I loved the way the author writes, with sympathy and passion but not too emotional (which considering the main story was a tough task). I will be looking out for more of her books.
