This is a gripping thriller centred around one family’s struggle to deal with their grief at the loss of a child. The narrative is told from two perspectives, Amy, the child’s mother, and Nick, the child’s uncle. As both narrators uncover more and more hidden family secrets, it becomes harder for the reader to trust any of the characters, including the two narrators.
I was hooked from the first chapter, and Kay kept me guessing until the very last page what the next twist could be. There were a couple of oversights from an editorial point of view (inconsistencies / spelling etc) which were a bit distracting at points, but overall it’s definitely a novel I would recommend. Not only for the suspenseful mystery, but for the beautiful insight into a broken family and their struggle to mend after facing a devastating tragedy.
