I admit once I started this book I could not put it down. It started a bit slowly and was a bit weird as written from the two points of view-Amy the mother of the child who died and Nick who is her brother, uncle of the child. It was atmospheric and had lots of twists and turns along the way with a surprise sting in the tail. It dealt with grief in all its forms, sadness and anger along with the ways that it affects you that you do not understand. You will feel the pain of all the family while underlying that is the mystery of what actually happened on the day that the little girl drowned. It is shocking and all played out to a backdrop of an idyllic Italian island where the family have gone to be together on the first anniversary of the fateful day. I really enjoyed it.
