This is a difficult story to read at times. Written from the perspective of the mother and uncle of a young girl drowned in a tragic accident it reads very well. The family go away to Italy over the time of the anniversary of the tragedy to try to heal some wounds. The setting of their destination is beautiful. Even the description of their lunches is appealing. The story unfolds. The story told by the mother is particularly poignant but it soon becomes clear that the other characters are also trying to heal in their own ways. All of the characters were detailed and believable and all added to the overall story. I really enjoyed the style of writing and would now read other books by the same author.
