This story is about the death of a small girl and the ramifications this has on all members of the family. I liked this authors style of writing. I liked that the story was told by the uncle as, ordinarily, I would have expected the main character to have been the mother of the little girl.
The adult characters were not very likeable, it appeared that the tragedy brought out the very worst in them all and the family dynamics were quite toxic.
I thought the plot meandered a bit and there were a couple of occasions I felt my attention wandering but I was intrigued to find out how the author resolved the various issues - and she did resolve most of them - but I felt that the ending (where I correctly guessed what was coming) was a bit rushed.
