An absolutely fabulous read. I couldn't put it down! It's well written and completely engaging from the start with very likeable and well rounded characters in both Letty and Alf, who completely hold the attention. Yes, Its a love story, but it's one with substance and heart. It has the perfect balance of warmth, humour, pain and sadness.
It took me back to my student days in Italy - the way that Rome is written is really lovely!! Escapism with a real heart to it. I could feel the heat and atmosphere of the Forum & Piazza Navona bouncing off the page!
I loved it and have passed it on to my daughter who is as gripped as I was. For me, this is the must read of 2020 so far. Kate Eberlen was new author for me, but I will certainly buy more from her in the future!
