This is the story of two young people Alf and Letty who meet at a language school. They are the only two English people in the class. On first impressions they are very different. She is from the south of England and he is from the north. She has studied at university and he has worked at a number of jobs to make money to travel. What they do have in common is a love of dance. Ballet for her and ballroom for him. They both also have some difficult family relationships. From the start we know that Letty has come to Italy to get away from something in her past. As the story unfolds we learn that it is not only Letty who has secrets. I enjoyed this book as it's easy to read and has some lovely descriptions of Italy.
