I was surprised by this book as I thought it would be a typical love story gone bad but I loved the level of detail that Kate put into the descriptive narrative throughout and I loved the way that she was able to tie the plot together. The characters were excellently written and Letty and Alf each telling their stories separately but together worked really well too. I almost expected that the ending of the story could go either way right up to the last few pages which felt intended by the author but perhaps wasn’t intended on reflection. A sequel to this could be really interesting as I would love to know if their story carries on successfully and what the baby is like and if the happy ending really is fairytale like for them both. Loved it would definitely recommend
