We are introduced to Letty and Alf when they meet in an Italian class in Rome. They share a love of dance which sees them develop a relationship despite coming from completely different backgrounds. Alf is an accomplished ballroom dancer and Letty's dancing was in the form of ballet.
They both have secrets from their past which they manage to hide as their relationship develops but just as they seem to be forming a bond between them, the past catches top and they both leave Rome. Alf returning to Blackpool and Letty to London.
I think the author had a love of Italy which came across very well and I found myself transported to Letty and Alf's meeting places and Italy was brought to life.
This isn't the kind of book I usually read but I immersed myself in it, the atmosphere, the descriptions, the characters really kept me spellbound and wanting to know if Alf and Lottie ever find happiness.
Readers will have to get this book to find out whether it has a happy ending or not, but it's well worth following the two main characters and learning both their secrets from the past and what the future will hold for them.
