The opening pages certainly transported me to a foreign land, evoking horrific sights & smells and packing in huge amounts of information.
The next chapter has already used comparisons between the Normandy beaches and Roman history- so I am interested to know if Mr Cable is going to pack everything that he has researched into this novel!
