Our Chemical Hearts was a book I was unable to put back down when I read it (which was, admittedly, quite a while ago).
The characters of Henry and Grace are unique and incomparable to the main characters of any other book I've read. My most distinct memory of this book is certainly one of a a scene between the two of the (the one at the pond) as it seemed the pinnacle of one of the principles of the book. That everything we feel and are is just chemical reactions - I found some comfort in Henry's easy way of putting this point across so clearly. Or, really, of how well Sutherland put this into the novel.
The one downside, I found, was the handling of Grace's disability and mental health as she essentially had an unexplained miraculous recovery at the very end. Unfortunately, not the best representation.
Asides from that this was a beautiful book that I loved an awful lot.
