Our Chemical Hearts is a coming-of-age touching tale of first love and, of course, first heartbreak. Henry Page is a bright, self-aware adolescent who has successfully made it to the age of seventeen without losing his heart to anyone. That is until Grace shows up, with her manic pixie dream girl shine shifting a change in Henry's life. A thoroughly thought-provoking book, making you question what lies beyond the dreary halls of high school.

The book does take some time to get into, but personally, I enjoy a slow start with plenty of humour and description. Getting to know the character really helps before the story is launched in its full glory. I know Lili Reinhart produced a movie version too so that's something to look forward to when you're done!

Finally, a quote that I think was touching:

"We were characters out of a movie.
We were thoroughly alive.
And we were absolutely beautiful.”
