The beginning packs a punch and for good reason. I was dubious about a teen love story where the characters meet in the classroom as how many times have we seen that before? However, we see something different. We see the protagonist, Henry/author almost make fun of those moments and admitting that this love story doesn’t have the breath-taking ‘oh my God’ they’re gorgeous moment…rather Henry’s attention is caught in a different way when Grace Town walks into his classroom.
It’s refreshing to see a male protagonist voice in a ‘love story’ and even more refreshing that Grace isn’t the typical ‘average yet beautiful’ girl. Rather, it’s her dirty appearance, how she wears boys’ clothes, and walks with a cane that gets Henry’s eye.
I’m certainly interested in finding out who Grace is and why Henry finds her so mysterious.
