This is a story of a first love and how that love effects the two partners, one of whom has nothing to give and one of whom gives too much.
From the get go, this book makes you feel for the two main characters, Henry an awkward teenager falling in love for the first time and Grace, a girl from a broken background. Two characters drawn together for different reasons, both a burden and help to the other. Him to help her and get to know her. Her reason is less obvious and genuine.
It's a story written with the voice of Henry and this gives the book a very funny, loveable narrative.
Theres too many spoilers to go into detail but this book deals with very real topics, such as abuse and mental health, and does so in a very honest and relatable way. There is also plenty of diversity in this book, one of the friends is an LGBT character and whilst this is mentioned, it is not the main trait of the character, as so often is the case.
