Wow. That’s pretty much my first thought. This book owns my heart in ways that not many others can. I came to find this book after watching the movie adaptation. The movie wasn’t great but the story was, and it very much gave me the vibe of: this would have been an amazing book. And it was. I read this book extremely quickly. I found myself adoring the main characters Henry and Grace. Henry narrates and his quick wit and sympathetic viewpoint means that any reader instantly loves him. His description of Grace is utterly mesmerising, so we end up seeing her the way that he does. Grace has been in an accident which caused her to lose someone , and Henry very much has “let me fix you” energy, but it’s not at all obnoxious like how it comes across in the film- it’s endearing. Grace as well is such a mysterious character, and then all of a sudden she isn’t- we are learning about her at the same time as Henry is and we feel so deeply for them both. I cannot recommend this enough!! Perfect for those of you who enjoy a tragic teen love story!
