This looked like a promising novel by a brilliant writer. The first few pages were great, but sadly the characters were uninteresting, unappealing…There’s also no compelling story. The worst was introducing a major betrayal and old friends and never addressing it in this entire bloviating mess. I also wasn’t aware that this was a story about our current COVID life circumstances. Still I couldn’t get into to it even tho it’s a really good concept and it could attract a lot of readers but the author, “Gary Shteyngart” could’ve have made the book a whole lot shorter. I get that some people really like this book but it just wasn’t really my genre. The next time I see a book by him on sale, I am going to try to give his other books/story’s another chance. As I’ve said before even the reviews on Amazon were really mixed If you scroll through them you see a good one then a bad one… But overall good try!
