This book was not for me.I found it slow and lacking in a story line and totally boring.The blurb informs me that it will be a funny book,there was not a lot of humour to this book.First time I have read a Gary Shteyngart book and will be my last.
Our Country Friends is set during the early days of a pandemic.During it, author and landowner Senderkovsky invites some of his friends to stay on his land where he has a number of bungalows they can use. However, that is pretty much all that happens.
Some of the characters are a bit weird and Dee stands out as being a bit promiscuous.
Towards the end one of the characters falls ill and there seems to be a lot of emphasise of the dreams this person suffered while unwell. At first I didn't realise it was dreams which was a bit confusing. This section went on a bit.
I wanted to give up on the book but kept on reading, so that I could give it a fair review.
