I really struggled with this book. Firstly, I wasn't sure whether I really wanted to read a book about Covid lockdowns - all too familiar territory! I found the start of the book a bit of a drag as couldn't really engage with the characters.

It was an odd book with three distinct parts. The first part was the character introductions, which were oddly unengaging, and featured an odd collection of masturbatory incidents where nearly everyone either zoomed off to their chalets to take care off themselves, or of someone else.

The middle of the book was a features a dullish back and forth between The Actor and the other characters (it's never explained why he is know as The Actor) which doesn't really resolve itself. There's also a pickup truck which keeps appearing but I must admit I lost interest in that after a while and can't remember whether that came to anything.

The third part is then a few chapters of covid-induced hallucinations - some made of memories and some imagined - which got a bit boring after a while. Then results in a bit of a damp squib ending.
