Not for me, but could be for you?
Our Country's Friends by Gary Shteyngart concerns romances during times of isolation - there's an eclectic group of personalities to absorb, and I just couldn't seem to get into it. Maybe it's too close to our recent pandemic and my mind simply rejected the story... I don't know.
I did actually begin to skim read halfway through and it began to feel like a chore; I feel awful saying so, but I'm definitely not a match for this style of writing and character interest.
I was sold from the blurb and the hardback book design - it looked like a winner, but sadly not for me. I've noticed several positives reviews, so do give it a chance. Thank you to the publishers and Reader's First for sending me a copy of the book - it's very much appreciated and I'll endeavour to pass it on to a better matched reader.
Many people have laughed at the antics of the lockdown characters...you may be that person!
