A bizarrely fun read

Steven flees to the not so desirable Grunsby on Sea, following a kiss with Harry leading to Harry's head exploding. That's when it fully dawns on him that his happiness is catastrophic and deadly.

I loved the growth and development of Steven when he goes on a mission to control his powers. I felt his unhappiness at not being able to express his feelings and just wanted him to be able to express his feelings freely. The friendship dynamics between Freya and Steven were also lovely to read. The friendly and unfriendly banter being such an honest representation of teenage friendships. (Despite her interrogations of his sexuality, I didn't detect any malice or intentional pressure IMO)

The storyline gets more and more bizarre, but parts of it become oddly relatable, and I enjoyed the witty use of social media and hash tags.

For me, it became a bit too much towards the end, and some of the characters made quite dramatic changes in presentation. But overall, it was a fast paced, action filled book that was unlike anything I've read before.
