4.5 stars! This was such a brilliant start to a new series! I picked this one up for the colourful cover, but was hooked by the blurb. The premise of emotions literally having power is unique and fun. Steven is a loveable character – he’s charming, but also selfless as he feels as though he has to be alone to avoid hurting anyone. The other characters are just as interesting, especially Freya who is hilarious and sassy. I was intrigued immediately by the 'Emomancy cheat sheet' and was not disappointed, as the book has tons of clever moments and even a mystery plot and spooky abandoned lab! There is a sprinkle of romance and the found family trope, which I loved! There is also a little mixed media element with field report excerpts. Overall, this was a brilliant read and I cannot wait for more from this author. It is wholesome, charming, magical and full of fun twists and turns.
