The cover of this book indicated a fun easy YA read and yes it lived up to its promise. No spoilers here… I loved how the majority of the book was written. It flowed very well and giving a good depth of the main characters . Poor Max ( the lead “over emotional “ character) has enough to cope with as teenage hormones and angst are prevalent, and then on finally plucking up the courage for his first kiss, the guys head explodes, although not graphically as unnecessary. Max runs away but as in a lot of YA books true friends turn up to help him cope. He is not alone. I did find the initial interspersed reports to an agency were not written in a way that flowed as well as the rest of the book but I got used to them. They could have been explained a bit better initially. The book shows how we all need coping mechanisms and there are always others with similar issues. A lot of action adventure along the way and overall a good fun read.
