This was a fun read. A pinch of Heartstopper and a dollop of Stranger Things, this tells the story of Steven whose emotions have a bit too much impact on the world around him.
A brilliant opening - when he first kisses a boy the boys head explodes - shows you the tone of this story. There is humour throughout and despite the power some of the characters have they come across as believable teenagers. The banter between them rings true and issues that they face are not lessened just because the book has humour or fantasy elements.
The telling of the story flits between the points of view of the 4 main characters. This means you get to see the misunderstandings and judgements that inevitably happen and this is of course so true to real life.
This fantasy story is one which could easily be transfered to the big screen. Action, adventure, romance and plenty of laughs along the way.
