This is the writers debut book, that is about a queer YA fantasy, with the main character who has a flair of magic.

The cover attracted my attention and the storyline sounded great, like something I would perhaps get into, but unfortunately, I didn’t gel with the story, so for me I wouldn’t recommend this novel to adults.

I did like Steven who was gay, with the idea that when he gets overemotional, strange things happen.

I didn’t quite like the idea that when he’s making out with a total stranger, his head exploded, but then again it a fantasy for YA readers.

With Steven frightened that the guy’s head exploded and killed him, Steven then ran way to Grunsby-on-Sea that seems to him like a dump place to live.

I did however like the idea that this main character had powers.

I can see young teenagers may find the scenes quite funny and enjoying the twists and turns in Overemotional.

My hat off to the author who has worked extremely hard writing and giving YA readers a lovely brand new fantasy trilogy to follow

I’m sure young teenagers from the age of 12 to 15 will find this queer fantasy trilogy very appealing.
