I really enjoyed this young adult novel that has many twists and turns which keeps the reader enagaged. The characters are really likeable and I enjoyed the banter between them, often laughing out loud. My teenage son also read this book and we both enjoyed talking about the themes of the book and the clever plot. It deals sensitively with the upheaval of hormones and discovering more about your sexuality. Steven and Troy's relationship was really cute as they got to know each other more in really strange situations. I thought it was clever the way that emotions were shown through magic and strange occurances that were often violent and embarrassing. As Steven learns to understand and accept himself he becomes more able to control his powers. This was a great fun read with lots of twists and turns that kept the reader engaged and wanting to know more.
