I shared this book with some of the children I work with and got a mixed bag of opinions to be honest. The fast paced story line peppered with mysterious happenings, a kidnap and a race against time to try and save the day were enough to keep the majority of the class on board and wanting more each afternoon in our reading time. The girls in the group in general were a little harder to convince and I could tell they weren't invested in the same way that the boys were. I guess this is fine as I would have said that it was aimed more at boys/less girly girls.
Overall it was an enjoyable read. The children enjoyed making predictions, talking about the characters and making comparisons between their own families and the bizarre happenings to the characters in the book.
