The first thing that struck me while reading the opening pages of this book is how you can instantly feel the author's love of books and reading. There is a fondness and passion that shines through the very well researched prose. I love all the references to specific books, authors and TV/film adaptations and think this will be a fascinating account of the history of books and attitudes/traditions towards reading too.
