This book takes me back to English GCSES, when we first started a new book and learnt all of the books context but the author has done this in a much more engaging way unlike my teacher at the time. Here we look at a older series “The Master and his Pupil“, I personally haven’t heard off but somehow am able to still understand the story and it’s impact on literature. The author compares this story’s tropes to Harry Potter and Frankenstein showing that most stories nowadays are not fully “original”.

This is both engaging and informative about the historical and in some ways psychological impacts famous books on our reading patterns making it a must read for any English literature fanatics like myself. The only negative if you could even call it that Is at times this feels a bit long winded but that might just be me being picky. Loved the the unique concept.
